Toothaches
Toothaches in children can be caused by a number of issues, including tooth decay, dental abscesses, gum irritation, or food stuck between teeth. If your child complains of ongoing or severe tooth pain, it’s important to schedule an urgent evaluation.
Signs to watch for:
- Persistent throbbing or sharp pain
- Swelling in the gums or face
- Sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure
- Fever or general discomfort
Our team will identify the cause of the pain and provide prompt treatment to relieve discomfort.
Knocked-Out Teeth
If a permanent tooth is knocked out, timing is critical. The sooner we can re-implant the tooth, the better the chances of saving it. For baby teeth, we’ll assess the area and ensure no damage has occurred to surrounding teeth or underlying permanent teeth. What to do if your child knocks out a tooth:
- Locate the tooth (handle by the crown, not the root)
- Rinse gently with water if dirty - do not scrub
- Place the tooth in a cup of milk or saliva to keep it moist
- Call our office immediately for emergency care
Fractured/Chipped Teeth
Accidents happen, and when they do, our team is prepared to repair and restore your child's smile with the latest in dental technology and materials. If your child chips, cracks, or breaks a tooth, even if it seems minor, a dental evaluation is essential. Cracks can lead to nerve exposure, infection, or further damage if not addressed quickly. Our services include:
- Digital X-rays to assess the extent of damage
- Smooth shaping of minor chips
- Tooth-colored bonding or fillings for moderate fractures
- Crowns or pulpotomies for more severe breaks
We’ll restore the tooth’s shape and strength while helping your child stay calm and comfortable throughout the process.
