Kids Orthodontics
Early guidance for healthy, aligned smiles
Our pediatric dental clinic plays a vital role in setting the stage for full orthodontic treatment. Through early evaluations and space maintenance, we help guide your child’s dental development and coordinate care when orthodontic intervention is needed. With welcoming offices in High Point, Lumberton, and Fayetteville, NC, we partner with families to identify and manage orthodontic concerns before they become complex problems.
Orthodontic Evaluations
We typically recommend that children receive their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. At this stage, baby teeth and permanent teeth coexist, and bite patterns begin to form. Our pediatric dentists are highly trained to spot early signs of orthodontic issues, including:
- Jaw and facial development
- Spacing or crowding of teeth
- Bite alignment (overbite, underbite, crossbite)
- Early loss of baby teeth or delayed eruption of permanent teeth
Space Maintainers
If a baby tooth is lost prematurely due to injury or decay, nearby teeth may begin to drift into the empty space. This can block permanent teeth from coming in correctly and may lead to crowding or bite issues later on. Space maintainers are small, custom-made appliances that preserve room in the mouth for adult teeth to erupt properly.
Our custom-fitted space maintainers are designed to be comfortable and effective, taking into account your child’s unique dental structure. This preventive approach prevents overcrowding and alignment issues, contributing to a healthier smile as your child grows.
